The old "it's too good to be true" story creeps in and all of a sudden, we're talking ourselves out of living our dreams. Our BIG dreams. The ones we don't dare say in public because we're afraid someone will say, "Who are you to dream that big?!"
****NOTE: If you are one of those "who are you to…" people, you can stop reading now. Because we ALL deserve to dream that big, strive that big, think of ourselves that big, and LIVE that big. We don't need naysayers telling us otherwise. Thanks for your concern that it might fall apart or blow up in our faces…but we're actually pretty resilient & want to take the journey anyway…even if it doesn't work out.
Really. Who are you to play small, stay in your comfort zone, & live a mediocre life? How does that help you or anyone around you? It doesn't.
A few months back I wrote about one of my big dreams. I had created what I call a "living vision board" on my bathroom mirror so that I could spend my morning & evening tooth brushing time hanging out with people in the Transformational Leadership Council (TLC). Because although there was no way to apply (you must be invited by an existing member), I was totally certain I belonged with these folks. They felt like my people.
Well…3 years after all of my "face time" with the TLC on my bathroom mirror, I met one of the members, Lisa Nichols, at a mind-blowing event called Awesomeness Fest (yes, there is a gathering of AWESOME people that happens in AWESOME places around our AWEOSME world…beyond amazing & something you should consider putting on your bucket list). The week was full of breakthroughs & a-has, reminding me of that "Why NOT me?" feeling. I got naked in all the right ways that week…and set something in motion I do not understand. I decided to make a huge investment in myself by joining Lisa's Global Leadership Program. I was ALL IN for this rodeo we call life. Let the bigger dreaming begin!
When I stopped asking, "Why me?" and started asking "Why NOT me?" boy did things change fast. New connections, new doors, new friends…and it was all so EASY! I stopped resisting. Resisting the things we all push back on so often:
- The idea that I actually know something…that I have knowledge & expertise in a few areas
- The idea that I'm worth it (it = time, money, effort, energy, attention, love).
- The idea that I do create my own world. Every. Single. Moment.
- The idea that there are signs only I can see, a language God & I have created together to help me know that I'm on the right path.
- That I don't just know God…I am a piece of God. And so are you.
And what do ya know. When I stopped resisting, it was like the Universe said, "FINALLY! What took you so damn long?!"
Within weeks, I made new contacts & found myself invited to participate in Robin Jay's new film from The Key Movie series with none other than Reverend Michael B. Beckwith.
But I should have seen that coming. After all, we had many fantastic conversations back in the TLC mirror meeting days.
To win big.
To chase dreams.
To love boldly.
To laugh freely.
To be the you that you've always wanted to be but never felt you had full permission...until now.
Your dreams are ready for you.
