I went to YouTube simply to find the song "I Choose You" by Sara Bareilles. I wanted to post about the beauty of choosing someone...a friend, a family member, a life partner, a colleague, or anyone who has touched your heart....and then writing them a little love note to say thank you. I had no idea the video for this song would have me crying & blowing snot bubbles at the beauty of how some people love each other.
But instead I found something way bigger than I imagined. I found hope.
Hope that this kind of love exists for me in the world. As I watched the unfolding of these proposals...I got butterflies in my stomach & a huge smile on my face. Like rays of sun thru a rainstorm, the smile thru my tears brightened my internal weather system (to be clear they were tears of joy that this kind of love exists...NOT sadness that I haven't found it for myself yet). And pretty soon I found my hope turning into something even stronger...FAITH.
I have absolute faith that this exists for me. That someone will love me enough to go out of his way to create a once in a lifetime memorable night for us to start our next chapter together. And that our lives will be full of "I can't believe we did that" memories between the many mundane nights of watching TV snuggled up on the couch (which are just as precious!).
I was only looking for a link. But I found faith. How's that for one small step turning into a giant leap? Maybe not for all of mankind...but it certainly feels like a giant leap forward for me. A leap of faith.
Take the small step you're ready (or not ready) to take...you just never know where it will lead you. :-)
